Luke 15:4-7 The Good Shepherd Seek the Lost

Luke 15:4-7

7 “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

Psalm 23 calls the Lord our Shepherd and we need not want anything cause The supply  everything. The 23rd chapter of Psalm is my favorite scripture, because it simply tells of how much the Lord our Shepherd loves His beloved sheep. For people who don’t really read scripture, the followers of God are normally called sheep. We are all born with a need of guidance and direction, the Shepherd’s word provides that. Our earthly parents do a good and awesome job of that, but our heavenly Father the Good Shepherd gives spiritual direction. Sheep just like rebellious children, we wander off even under the Shepherd watch.

Isaiah 53:6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.

If the parable of the lost sheep teaches anything, it is that the Lord never stops loving His children and He is always chasing them after them. When a lonely sheep wanders off very far away his or her Shepherd they  cry out of help, unless it’s a stubborn ram and but heads with anyone who comes close. The longer the lost sheep is alone the louder the cries out for help get, there is nothing wrong with that. The word of God says He is always seeking us, just like lost sheep teaching He leaves the 99 to seek you  and found you. Just because we walk with the Lord our Shepherd, doesn’t mean life is easy and without danger. But our Good Shepherd never leaves our side, with His staff He protects us from outside dangers like hungry wolves, but He even protects us from our foolish stubborn ways. 

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

If Luke 15:4-7 the lost sheep parable and Psalm 23 teach anything if a person remains lost , have no purpose for living and even if they have everything they want, they still feel like they have nothing, it is their own fault. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I.  Samuel H
