John 3:7 Whosoever, Marvels Not

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

 Auguste Rodin was commissioned in 1880 to create a sculpted artwork overlooking a doorway called the Gates of Hell. Which was supposed to be an entrance to the Art Museum in France. The sculpted piece of art was going to be named “The Poet.” as he marvels at the torment in hell, poetry is supposed to be all in his thoughts. The Gates of Hell art museum was never finished, but the statue of the Poet was but was named, The Thinker. The Thinker statue reflects the philosophy of a man marveling at the meaning of life and death. The Poet, the Thinker, as he was overlooking the gates of hell, maybe pondering how to avoid such torment. The Thinker statue was completed in 1904, and there are copies of the famous statue in major cities all over the world. It resonates for men and women all over the world because mankind all ponder and marvel at the meaning of life or the philosophy of existence. Religion exists for that very reason as philosophy. Christians believe God the Lord is the Creator of all life. We believe life in Him gives a person real purpose. We all know we fall short of God’s glory because we have sinful natures. So, we do like the High Priest Nicodemus, asking Jesus in the middle of the night who He is and who I am. Jesus tells Nicodemus he must be born again, and He tells you and I the same, we must be born again. Then Jesus added the words, marvel not on what He is saying; just accept it and believe. Some may marvel at what the words of Jesus mean, what God’s word tells you and me. Some marvel or study the Hebrew or Greek text of scripture, wondering if words like Shabbat, Yahweh, shalom, or Yeshua will save them. Some marvel if the word of God is complete or if books of the Bible are missing. The key verse in John chapter 3 says if we believe Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and that you and I will have everlasting life. No one needs to be a thinker or marvel at how to avoid the torment of eternal death; they only need to believe. The Lord wants you and I not to stress or marvel at what God’s word means.
