John 1:30 Because He Is, I Am
The story and testimony of John the Baptist almost dominate the gospel of John chapter 1, more than any other gospel. But just like Jesus, the other gospels tell who John the Baptist was and is. The more I read and learn about John, I see my testimony similar to his. Unlike him, an angel did not appear to my father and tell him I would lead the way to the soon-coming Messiah. Unlike him a the angel of the Lord did not tell my parents, I wasn’t allowed to drink, because I had to stay sober-minded, to preach and teach. But my Heavenly Father’s words tell me to do these commands, so I do. Unlike John, I have not been arrested for telling a king to stop sinning, nor have I been beheaded for the same crime of passing judgment. But like John the Baptist, it feels like it is my job and duty to be a voice in the wilderness, lead many as can to the Jesus. I to tell them to repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand. At first, I felt my sharing Bible verse by text than writing Bible-teaching blogs was just a hobby. Now I know I am on a mission from God. I have received questions from family, friends, and church members, asking who you are and why you do what you do? Why spend most of the days and my income sharing God’s word? Why does Samuel not worry about food to eat, a home to live and sleep in, what clothes to wear? I only want to talk about the Lord who I love. I speak and answer like John the Baptist; I do it because He Jesus told me to on His behalf, not mine. Jesus is the one who gives me purpose. I receive judgment from family, friends, and even fellow church members. Jesus called John the Baptist greatest among any man born from a woman. But John the Baptist was so meek, he stated I am not worthy to untie the Messiah sandals. I am like John the Baptist because when I see Jesus coming, I say, He is way more superior them me because He made me who I am. Because Jesus the Great I Am, existed before I was born and because I surrendered to His will, He has shown me who I really am. I am His bondservant, ready to His will whenever and however possible. God bless you all; the Lord Jesus loves you, and so do I. His bondservant, Samuel H.
