James 4:4-5 Adultery, Flirting With Disaster

James 4:4-5

4 You adulteresses [disloyal sinners—flirting with the world and breaking your vow to God]! Do you not know that being the world’s friend [that is, loving the things of the world] is being God’s enemy? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose that the [human] spirit which He has made to dwell in us lusts with envy?

Are you and I unfaithful to the Lord our God, who scripture calls our first love? You and I ask ourselves how can we unfaithful to the Lord, in just our every day walk Him. How many of you have a husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend who get upset when you see him or her, when they turn their head to get an extra look at someone they find attractive? A wife most likely gets mad if she learns her husband is on the internet, checking out porn sites, because after he is lusting after another woman he didn’t exchange vows with. How serious is faithfulness to the Lord with it comes to having a relationship with our first love God? The word of God says His name is Jealous and He gets very jealous when we have other gods.

Exodus 34:14  For you shall not worship any other god, because the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God—

I decided to use the Amplified English Bible for the scripture because it says an adulteress is one who is disloyal to God and who flirts with the world. A flirt is someone who is looking for a hopeful relationship, it may be silly to say, but even a wink of the eye can lead to attention. The word of God has words for someone who isn’t faithful in their relationship with the Lord; adultery,  harlotry and idolatry. Adultery is unfaithfulness in marriage, a harlot is someone who sells their body for love and will do anything for a price, idolatry is worshipping something or who or whatever gets most of your devotions. James 4:4 says we break a vow with God when we flirt with the world. How many of us Christians still hold on to the sins  of this wicked world and keep sinning willingly, cause it is just too much fun. Have we as a church, fully made the Lord God our one and only God? Is our hand cookie in the cookie jar, is our eyesight stuck on some eye candy, does God have all our love. I know for myself I want to give Him more and pray His Holy Spirit will help me be the bond-servant I wanna be. God bless you all, your first love Jesus loves you and so do I . Samuel Head

Mark 7:20  And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. 21 For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. 23 All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”
