Galatians 3:9-14 Jesus Took My Curse and Became My Righteousness

Galatians 3:9-14

9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them.” 11 Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “The righteous man shall live by faith.” 12 However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, “He who practices them shall live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”— 14 in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through.

When a person reads or hears the Laws in God’s ten commandments, he or she might find those commandments very difficult to obey. And of course they are very hard for me & you to keep, especially when me & you are born with a sinful heart far from our Lord God. Father Abraham’s name is written in this Bible passage; it’s said that those who have faith & believe like Abraham are blessed. The Holy Bible also say the Abraham keep God’s Commandment Laws;

Genesis 26:5 Because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws.”

But any student of the Bible who reads & studied it, knows  that Abraham wasn’t totally obedient of God’s Commandment Law. He lied in Genesis 20 to  Abimelech the  king of Gerar, by telling the king that Abraham’s wife Sarah was his sister. When the King saw how beautiful Sarah & thought was available, he took her for himself, but the Lord God sent Gerar a dream, telling him he was a dead man if he did not return Sarah back to her husband Abraham. So how can the Holy Bible say Abraham was commandment keeping man of God, if he told a lie. The Holy Bible say God detests a lying;

Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal faithfully are His delight.

Does that mean Abraham was an abomination to the Lord, because he told a lie , or bear false witness like one of the Commandments tells me & to, God wants us to be honest. Abraham told a lie, he told many lies & even tried to fulfill a promise that God would fulfill. God promised Abraham & all that has faith like Abraham, that a seed, a Son, would pay the price for Abraham’s little white lie. Because Abraham when he disobeys God’s commandment, he deserves to die by the curse of the Law. Abraham had belief & faith in his God’s promise, & that is where he got his righteousness, by trusting God would lift up the curse of trying to provide himself salvation & being perfect in his own eyes & even perfect in his wife Sarah’s eyes. The Lord Jesus wants your faith, He lifted up Abraham’s disobedient lie, by accepting the curse of death. While the Lord Jesus was nailed to a rugged tree, crossing & dying a painful death, He forgave Abraham’s lie, He forgave my lying tongue, He even forgave my temper I lost sometime & took my anger out on others. The Lord Jesus knows we don’t know how to obey & keeps God’s Commandment & He did it for us.

Luke 23:34 But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.

Righteousness comes by allowing  Jesus in your heart with faith & belief, with His Spirit living inside you & me. His Spirit teaches how to do what is right & pleasing in His eyes. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you & so do I. Sam H.

James 2:23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.
