Ephesians 6:16 I Shall Buckler

Ephesians 6:16

In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

The Hebrew word for the shield in the Old Testament is Magen. Some people believe when David was writing about a shield (Magen) in the book of 2nd Samuel and the Psalm, he was referring to the Star of David. But the Lord told Abram (Abraham) that God would be his shield.

Genesis 15:1 After these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great.”

2 Samuel 22:36 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your help makes me great.

Psalm 18:35 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your right hand upholds me, and Your gentleness makes me great.

But it is doubtful David would put his trust in the symbol before the omnipresence of the Lord God. Remember, David faced the giant Goliath with no physical armor. But Goliath had a shield, and someone carried it for him.

1 Samuel 17:41 Then the Philistine came and approached David, with the shield-bearer in front of him.

So it is doubtful David put his faith in a six-pointed star. The shield of faith does not need to be seen, nor are the fiery darts from the evil one. Temptation happens, but it is a person’s genuine desire. Look at anyone with lust, adultery begins in the heart, and the flesh will lead to committing sexual immorality. Many people wear a cross; some are Christian some are not. Ozzy Osborne wears a big cross necklace and puts a cross symbol on his album covers, but he calls himself the Prince of Darkness. Jimmy Lee Swaggart preaches and sings gospel music proclaiming to be a televangelist for the Lord. But sexual immorality made the Assemblies of God denomination remove Jimmy from his pastoral role. Of course, David gave into the sin of adultery. He even had the husband of the woman he had his affair with murdered in battle. But David repented earnestly to the Lord about his wrongdoing, asking the Holy Spirit to restore the joy of salvation.

2 Samuel 22:31 As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the Lord is refined; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. 32 For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock except our God? 33 God is my strong fortress, And He sets the blameless on His way. 34 He makes my feet like deer’s feet And sets me on my high places. 35 He trains my hands for battle So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 36 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your help makes me great. 37 You enlarge my steps under me, And my feet have not slipped. 38 I pursued my enemies and eliminated them, And I did not turn back until they were finished off. 39 And I have devoured them and smashed them, so that they would not rise, And they fell under my feet.
