Ecclesiastes 1:8-11 Same Ole Song and Dance
In the late 1980s, I begged my father to buy me a ticket to go to Def Leppard’s concert, and I was surprised when he said OKAY. My father was old fashion and really hated my taste in music, but not only did he buy me a ticket, but for my younger sister and brother as well. He paid my uncle Grady to take us, and I am sure he did not really enjoy the loud rock music that I and my siblings enjoyed. After that concert, I went to so many more and a few times, things got a little crazy. Many concerts I attend had slam dancing, which is dancing when the audience is dancing in a circle, slamming into each other, crowd surfing which is being passed around on top of people, and stage diving. Once I took my younger sister, Susie, to a concert, and the performer was Warrant or Bullet Boys. It was a club concert, we were close to the front of the stage, and behind us, the crowd got rough. People were pushing and shoving. My little sister got scared. A couple was behind us, and the lady was pregnant. Her partner shouted; hey we have a pregnant woman here, can you calm down, please! This previous November 6, 2021, a stampede happened at Travis Scott concert and eight people died and many more got injured. Many people are calling this event demonic and are shocked that it happened, but as King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 1:9, there is nothing new under the sun. The Rolling Stones had a concert at the end of 1969, a celebration of what they call a decade of love. They hired the motorcycle gang, the Hell Angels, for security. The Hell Angels were very violent with their way of security, using broken in half pool stick cues to control the crowd. The band was late to perform; the crowd was anxious, and just about all were either high on drugs or drunk from alcohol. A young man pulled out a pistol, and he was stabbed to death multiple times. There have been many incidents of concert violence. I remember Axel Rose of Guns N Roses, started a couple of concert outbreaks. In 1999, another Woodstock concert was taking place. The crowd was a little upset; the tickets were expensive, to eat there was costly. Fans protested, and as the concert festival went on for the weekend, violence increased. Many things were destroyed by fire and many females who went to the festival were sexually assaulted. Most concert stampedes and violence have happened at rock-n-roll events. Rock music is already music that has a rebellious spirit, so it should not be any surprise when chaos happens. I heard many people say, they felt demonic spirits at the Travis Scott concert. Young people can and will idolize famous musicians, does not matter if they are rock, country-western, rap, or even Christian recording artists. The recording artist themselves will feel like gods or goddesses. I heard fans say they felt like demonic spirits were present at Travis Scott’s concert. But there is a lot of rebellion going on everywhere, the artists sing songs about sin, and their fans enjoy it. The word of God says, in everything we do, make sure it gives praise and worship to God. If your entertainment sounds or looks foul, most likely it is. If your life is all about sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll, you or anyone will have a rocky lifestyle. A 10-year-old young child was killed at the Travis Scott concert. Most of his material a 10-year-old child, should not be listening to in the first place. I love music, and I thank God for talented people who make beautiful music, but my dear brothers and sisters, I love God more, He deserves all honor and praises, not recording artists. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus you and so do I. Samuel, a bondservant of the Lord.
