Galatians 5:22 But the Fruit of the Spirit is Kindness
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, Kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Is kindness a behavior only followers of the Lord can have, probably not, since we all are made in God’s image. As I have been teaching the different fruits of Spirit, Kindness is probably the one that wins new souls to Christ. The word Kindness appears in Scripture 26 times, does that mean it’s any less of fruit from the Holy Spirit. Even if the world doesn’t believe in Jesus or His word, they know the followers of the Lord should have kindness . Kindness is a act that Scripture tells Christians they do & the should not practice the acts written in following Scripture;
Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
A famous non-Christian knew the words of Christ, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, he is known as the father of India. He promoted non-violence,justice and harmony between people of all faiths. He read the words of Jesus from Matthew 5, so he knew the follower of Jesus who call himself Christians were suppose to same kindness preached in the Beatitudes, I am will share a few;
Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
But Gandhi must have had a bad experience with Christians, cause he said we were not like Christ, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”
Is it true we are not like Christ. Jesus is the author of kindness, He shows us kindness, by not giving us what we deserve. We as Christians are supposed to show kindness even to people who show us no kindness, it’s like the old saying, “Kill Them With Kindness,’ & Scripture kinda tells us to do that;
Proverbs 25:21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;22 For you will heap burning coals on his head, And the Lord will reward you.
Proverbs 23:21-22 is kinda telling Christian to kill with kindness, that doesn’t mean put them to death, cause a true enemy doesn’t wanna receive an act of kindness, he or she will just dwell on it, because he or she would probably never do it in return. And the golden rule isn’t just New Testament teaching, the word of God has said show Kindness to all people. We are not to hate, speak slander, hold a grudge, or even get payback as in revenge, the Lord God tells me & you & me to love them as our neighbor or as much as we love ourselves. Let me ask you something, do you love yourself, must we do, would you show yourself an act of kindness, I like to give myself some tasty treats sometime. Go out into the world and show the world you have the fruit of Kindness, that Holy Spirit has given you, cause you are supposed to represent Christ. God bless you all, the Lord loves you & so do I.
