Proverbs 12:27 Jezebel’s Game
A lazy person does not roast his prey, but the precious possession of a person is diligence.
A few years ago, Jezebel Riley saw my website on a local app called Nextdoor. I also met my current roommate, best friend, and brother in Christ, Jason Field, on that same app. Jezebel had told me my website was teaching her so much, and she was learning things she never thought of. As our friendship grew, I asked Jezebel once if she attended Church, and she said she did not. I asked why, and she replied that most churches do not teach the whole truth, and many are full of hypocrites. But I have met other lukewarm Christians who give the same poor excuse for not attending church. I learned that Jezebel did not get along with her next-door neighbor and did not like social media because she hates online drama. She was in trouble with her car then and could not afford to repair it. So, I had to inform her that my friend and Pastor Christopher Rollins like to fix cars as part of his humble ministry. So, I introduced them to each other, and he repaired her car, and all she had to do was buy the parts it took to fix it. Randomly, I like to ask others what they would like me to blog about. So I asked Jezebel, and she replied, please do the Book of Proverbs. She had told me that verse 5 of chapter 3 was her direction in life. I also like it, but I understand it better when I look at the content of other verses written around it
I asked Jezebel about her name because I never met anyone with it. And mainly because it is unpopular like Judas’ name has a bad reputation. She told me her mother was a Jehovah’s Witness. She names her Jezebel as a joke or for revenge. Jezebel of the Holy Bible from the Books of 1st and 2nd Kings was a very evil Queen of Israel. She mocked the Lord and persecuted the prophets of God.
Jezebel has the same attitude about the Church as many others who say they believe in God but forsake the Church. They seek a relationship with God but do not seek to assemble with others or even praise the Lord in a church gathering. When a predator like a cheetah, lion, or wolf hunts prey, it will share it with their young or within a pack. If they do not guard the prey they seek and catch, other animals, like hyenas, will come and steal their captive game. A year or a year after we had known each other, Jezebel’s relationship with me got bitter. She told me I am so kind of know-it-all and that I am too judgemental. Also, I help no one. I reminded her I helped her fix her car, and she replied it was not me but Pastor Christopher Rollins. I know she does not get along with her next-door neighbor; she does not like social media and chooses not to attend church. Yes, she says she loves the Lord, the Lamb of God who says she seeks, but she forsakes the assembly with other saints. There are reasons for not doing so right in her own eyes, but sin in the name of the Lord. That excuse is also a sin for any other so-called person who believes in God but forsakes His houses of worship.
