1 Corinthians 14:27-33 The Lord Is Not the God of Confusion

1 Corinthians 14:27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret; 28 but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment. 30 But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, the first one must keep silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted; 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; 33 for God is not a God of confusion but of  peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

I have been in a house of worship a few times, where the gift of tongues was the whole focus of the whole church, the other spiritual gifts were not talked about, it was just all about tongues. The way the church conducts the worship & gift of tongues is not what i have read & explained in 1 Corinthians chapter 14, especially what is said here between verse 27-33. When the worship started after the speaker finished saying the opening prayer & started to deliver his sermon, everything was just like a normal worship service. But then someone stood up & was saying words that didn’t make sense, it didn’t sound like any earthy language i ever heard, but they were doing more than talking, the person speaking, but his body was shaking & jerking like he was having uncontrollable seizures. Then the church went against what the writings of this Scripture says, instead of one person speaking & someone else waiting their turn to speak, at least four or five people were speaking babel, dancing, shaking on the floor or running around the church. The church served long into the night & children were asleep on the pews. There was no one there to interpret what the tongue speakers were saying & if there was, there were too many tongue speakers to have interpret for each one of them. I saw more order in a school classroom, then this church, & learned nothing about God’s word & the church was not edified especially for me. You would say that this kind of worship is a lot more like voodoo rather than Christianity, where a person loses control of the body. Cause nowhere in the book of Acts 2 on the day of Pentecost does it say Peter & the other speakers lost control of the bodies, dance like fools while they were preaching the gospel. Personally I understand how a church denomination can put all their focus on one spiritual gift, when the Holy Bible says there are more than one. Scripture tells the reader, the Lord is not God of confusion but of peace, what I saw that day in the house of worship was not peace at all, but of chaos. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you & so do I. Sam H.
