1 Corinthians 14:6-9 Gift of Tongues and Musical Instruments

1 Corinthians 14:6-9

6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7  Yet even lifeless things, either flute or harp, in producing a sound, if they do not produce a distinction in the tones, how will it be known what is played on the flute or on the harp? 8 For if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle? 9 So also you, unless you utter by the tongue speech that is clear, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air.

.The writer or the (1 Corinthians 14:6-9) is comparing the gift of tongues to the gift of music, or knowing how to play musical instruments. Just like musical instruments, written about in this passage ; the flute, heap & a bugle. All instruments are very beautiful & full of harmony if played by someone, who has been taught how to do so. But the same musical instruments can sound like a train wreck, if played by someone, who has no knowledge or talent to play such. I remember, once playing a set of drums in church once when I was alone, I was having a good time, until someone showed up & told me I was making a terrible noise. That what the Apostle Paul says the Gift of Tongues is, if now he doesn’t understand what anyone is saying. If everyone in the church is speaking the same language, the gift of tongues is not necessary & if everyone in the church is a believer, once again, the gift of tongues is not necessary;

1 Corinthians 14:22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe.

No one wants to hear a drum set played incorrectly & no one can understand the Greek language spoken, in a place where Japanese is spoken & heard. The Gift of Tongues is supposed to be edified, if no one can understand what is being said, no one is being edified. The Lord wants the gospel message to be heard clearly & to be understandable. I thank God for the Spiritual Gift of Tongues so that the Gospel can be taught to people who don’t speak the same language, I also thank Him for the Spiritual Gift of music so we as His children can have worship with good rhythm & harmony. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you & so do I. Sam H.

Isaiah 24:8 The gaiety of tambourine 9  They do not drink wine with song;Strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.es ceases, The noise of revelers stops, The gaiety of the harp ceases.
