Proverbs 4:20-23 Lend Me Your Ears, Children of God

Proverbs 4:20-23

20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them,  and healing to their whole body. 23 Guard your heart above all else,  for it determines the course of your life.

When an infant is born that newborn child is completely dependent on their parents. The child’s heads need support, they get most of their nourishment of milk, either from their mother breast or some kind of formula. All of the senses that are the most important to an infant child, the senses of hearing the ears. The gift of hearing starts for a child, while he or she is in their mother’s womb. The mother’s heartbeat is heard, her digestive system and her voices are heard. It is even encouraged that the mother sings to their unborn child, it can be soothing to the child. Even so after birth, a child can be calm down when the mother holds her baby to her chest and she sings a lovely song and the child hears the mother’s heart and loving voice. The conversation in Proverbs 4:20-23 is telling  the children of God, hear is His voice and listen to His Word, keep them in your heart and obey them. When I was young and my parents were giving me some punishment or good life lesson, it was demanded that I would look at my mom or dad. They wanted my full attendance, my ears hearing them speak and my eyes seeing their lips move. This requirement is demanded in the military as well if a commanding officer is talking to you, eye contact is expected. God the Father will know if you truly listen to His voice and if you or I am living by His word. A little child will turn their eyes in the direction, they heard the direction parent’s voice come from. Can others around us tell if we listen to God and obey His voice, are our actions a reflection of His word? Ask yourself this  and I will ask myself also, is my life a mirror image of words written in the Holy Bible. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel J Head

John 10:3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep listen to his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he puts all his own sheep outside, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 However, a stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”
