1 Corinthians 10:6-10 The Wilderness, A Spiritual Test, Part 2

1 Corinthians 10:6-10(NASB)

Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved.7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to play.” 8 Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. 9 Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents. 10 Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

The Israelites, who were freed from their four hundreds years of slavery, were never really grateful the Lord God, had gave them freedom & alway had disbelief if He would provide for the & keep them self. It wasn’t long after they started their journey to the Promise Land that they started to grumble & complain, life was better as slave in Egypt;

Exodus 14:12(NASB) Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”

Maybe the Israelites were happy with laboring & hard work they had done & never got paid for, maybe they were happy that their Egyptian masters had taken the Hebrew son & took them away from the parents & thrown into river Nile for the crocodiles to eat.

Exodus 1:22 (NASB) Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you are to cast into the Nile, and every daughter you are to keep alive.”

It was simply hard for the newly freed Israelites to accept freedom & also simply believe the Lord God only wanted their trust & to look on to Him when they needed guidance & to receive safety from death & danger. So when the Lord wanted to test their belief, He gave them a Spiritual Test in the Wilderness. So He sent poisonous snakes to bite them, so that they would bite the grumbling Israel people. But Moses so full of mercy asked for forgiveness for the Hebrew people to have salvation, so God answered Moses’ prayer request & told Moses to make a simple snake of bronze & hold it on a pole. If a person was bitten by a snake, all they had to do was look at the bronze snake held up in the sky by the snake & the poison would not kill them; (Numbers 21:6-9) A simple system of faith & belief is all the Lord ask for, but the Israelites we are slave the bondage of slavery. We are also in danger of being like ancient Israel, being slaves of sin, because we are used to the norm. We are in the middle of a plague or pandemic, & people are so afraid, cause life is not normal anymore. We are a lot like the Hebrews who were the Egyptian’s slave. They work very long hard days & only get a little reward for a place to live,sleep,clothes to wear, food to eat, for them & their little children. All of sudden, they had to trust in a visible God for everything, which was fine for a little while, but when they were facing the deep Red Sea & the angry Egyptian army behind them coming killed them, they would rather surrender freely & go back to bondage & slavery. Do you think my brothers & sisters have become comfortable & a slave to sin, that we want to trap in the plague of sin, which kills more people then the coronavirus (COVID-19). There is only one cure for the plague of sin, do you know what it is? The Book of John chapter three, tell me & you the cure is to simply look up at the true cure of a virus called sin & the promise for us to be saved in the wilderness of life. Are you ready my friends to pass the Spiritual Test & please the Lord God with your trust & belief in Him, simply look up at Christ & receive everlasting life & defeat death like Jesus did, on the famous day of His Resurrection! Amen. God bless all, the Lord God loves you & so do I. Sam H.

John 3:14 (NASB) As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.
