1 Corinthians 6:15-20 Flee From Sexual Immorality
1 Corinthians 6:15 (NKJV)
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
The Creator God first command to man & woman He made was to be “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, & so many people have it wrong, when they the Lord is against sex. God made us sexual people, but sin polluted (perverted) it. What was for a husband & wife, to share his/her body, with the one person he or she is in love with & made a vow to the Lord & to all, they will be faithful & loyal until death. The Book of Genesis chapter 1,2 & 3 gives the definition of love, sex & marriage. It says when a man & woman join together they become One, (Genesis 2:24 NASB). It always says in the King James Version, when Adam had sex with his wife Eve, it says that he knew her; (Genesis 4:1 KJV). That is how two become one person, but if the husband or wife are unfaithful, & know many lovers, their relationship will become a confused relationship, where no one knows who he or she knows they truly love. The Bible compares our relationship to the Lord, to like a marriage & when we are unfaithful, our oneness with God, becomes polluted & confused. But unfaithfulness & sexual immorality not only harms us spiritually, but also it can affect the people God creator made Physically, & mentally, destroying my & your body & our emotional minds. For example, the famous gangster Al Capone January 17, 1899 – January 25, 1947), lived life like a king, he did whatever he wanted, had any woman as a sexual servant, but his sexual immorality cost him his life physically & mentally. While he was serving time, he developed neurosyphilis , which is infection of the central nervous system in a patient with syphilis, which is a sexually transmitted infection . This sexual transmitted disease, cause damage to the nervous system & the brain will be damaged, then make a person heart stop beating & they die, because the person refuse to listen to God’s Word & break one of Lord’s commandments;
Exodus 20:14 (NASB) “You shall not commit adultery.
It’s no wonder that sexual sin in the passage in (1 Corinthians 6:18 NKJV) is a sin that goes against & damages our body which the Lord God gave me & you. Many Christians or people who say they believe in God, have personal views on sex, love & marriage. Some say wait for sex until you are marry, some say sex is okay if you practice safe sex or use birth control for less unwanted children, which could led one to abortion, which break another commandment;
Exodus 20:13 NASB) “You shall not murder.
My brothers & sisters, I am guilty of sexual immorality, but since I became a Christian, I want a meaningful relationship, but with my Lord, & a future wife, if she comes around. It is not easy for me, when God made the daughters of Eve so beautiful, even great heros from Scripture, hearts were led astray by lust for a beautiful woman. Such man was King David, but when the Lord told King David, that he had sin against God, King David said these words;
Psalm 51:1 (NASB) [ A Prayer of Repentance ] [ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. ] Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.
If the Lord Almighty can forgive King David for his sexual immorality , the Lord can forgive me & also you, my brothers & sister. Let’s be faithful to our God creator, to your spouse & be faithful to your temple (your body) which is God’s temple also. God bless you all, the Lord loves you & so do I. Love Sam H.
Revelation 22:14 (NKJV) Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
