2 Corinthians 5:1-5 Getting Rid of Earthly Tents
2 Corinthians 5:1-5
There are many titles the Holy Bible has for the bodies we dwell in, in this passage, it is called earthly tents or a house, which we live to dwell in here. In the Kingdom of God, a saint’s body is called a building or a house of God. The earthly tents we have now, are going or suffering daily because the body of sins is apart from God the creation and the design He meant. It even says in verse 3 we will not be found naked, that is a Biblical way of saying the saints of God, will not have any shame, cause nakedness means shame.
The only time nudity wasn’t shameful is in Genesis chapter 1 and 2, Adam and Eve were made naked;
Genesis 2:25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
Adam and Eve didn’t know they were naked, they didn’t know what a pair of jeans or a dress was, they walked freely in the Garden of Eden covered in God’s glory, as long as they were obedient. But when Satan entrusted the words of God the Creator and said surely you won’t die, but be like God, but the Devil was lying then that body of sinful won’t die and he is still lying today, cause funeral wake and graveyards are proof. When sin entered the world Adam & Eve saw their shamefulness and they hid from the Lord, who could hear their sinful beating hearts inside their earthly tents. Ever since then, the human body groans. We put extra clothes in it a little chilly, we start aging as soon as we are born. We are either born with an illness or develop a sickness. The only illness a doctor can’t cure is aging, elderly people are treated with extra care, cause they are fragile and only grateful for every day they wake to see sunshine and love again. The Holy Bible says the saints of God will receive a new building or house of God. The shame that comes from being naked and exposed for all the world to see won’t exist, as the Lord Jesus Christ returns the saint of God, will raise and have a brand new spiritual body that will never groan or die of old age.
My dear friends, I don’t like living in an earthly tent, that groans, I don’t worry about viruses and I don’t look forward to growing old and relying on someone else to do things I can do when I am young. I have elderly friends and family who would rather be at their home, cooking, dressing and bathing themselves. The Rolling Stones sing a song with the lyrics, “What drag it is getting old,” and it’s true, we don’t even have a famous rock band to tell us, our groaning earthy tents tell us. If we live for the Lord and trust in His promise, we will receive a body to dwell in and it will never age and die. I would like to lift up my new friend, I saw her on social media, asking who God is. I immediately asked for her friendship and let me help you. We started talking and she is very friendly. While I prepared this lesson, she messaged me and said hey. I said hey and she said she was going to bed, and I said, “you just told me hey,’ She told me she has stage 4 liver cancer and she is always tired. In my response, the devotion I’m writing now is for you, and I will send it to you and you can read it when you wake, she told me to thank you and God bless. Please won’t you lift up my new friend Judy Freeman in your prayers and let her know, the Lord Jesus loves her. God bless you, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I, Samuel J H.
