2 Corinthians 3:1-3 His Word in My Heart, A New Covenant

2 Corinthians 3:1-3

1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of commendation to you or from you?? 2 You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3 being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Written in hearts are the Laws of God, of those accepted by faith that Jesus is the Lord God. When my & your hearts are moved by the Holy Spirit, that by offering ourselves completely to Jesus, His guidance, will give me & you the true meaning of life, that is to worship & be like our Creator. He made me & you in His image, so do we know what the image of God is? Scripture tells us if we are doers of the His word we reflect His Image, it’s like looking in a mirror & the Image of ourselves disappears & we look like Him, Amen!

James 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

It is difficult for me to be a doer of God’s word, because I am driven by the sins of my sinful flesh, so I need the Lord’s Spirit to help me. At my offer to the Lord, it says to Jesus, I allow Him to write His words or commandment in my heart, it is a covenant He makes with me & with you also, if you give yourself to Him, as a living sacrifice.

Hebrews 8:10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds, And I will write them on their hearts. And I will be their God, And they shall be My people.

This New Covenant is like the love letters I would send to girls I like in school, check this box if you love me, or check the box if not, or she would just trash my note. Only once did I get a check yes box in return, in the second grade & I was a very happy boy, but I don’t remember what happened to that girl. But the Lord will never forget me &, doesn’t matter if we obey Him or not, but He can’t be our God if we don’t want Him or even obey Him, a love/hate relationship with the Lord, only give us distance & there is no faith. I heard an interesting version of the song, “Amazing Grace/Jesus loves Me,” Two classic songs put together, one about God’s amazing forgiving grace, the other a children song about saying Jesus loves me this I, for the Bible tells me so. The lyric that strikes me, Jesus loves me, that I know, even when I am bad, but it makes His dear heart sad. I don’t want my actions to make Jesus sad, just like I didn’t like it when my action disappointed my parents. When I was a good son to my parents I was rewarded & I felt a lot of love, when I was bad, my parents would show me they were sad & was punished, but they remained me, it hurt them more than me, to punish me. Jesus tells me if I love Him, I will keep my covenant promises to Him & keep His commandments, because true love is obedience.

John 14:15“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

I love Jesus with my heart, & even more with the heart of His Laws written in me, cause the Scripture tells me I am bad or sinful by nature, Scripture tells me & you, God gives good gifts. His holy word & commandments are good plus holy, they teach me how to be like Jesus, & how to reflect His image. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Holy Word, that teach me & make me more like You & less like myself, please transform me & those who read the words you have me to write, You give me the gift to teach Your Word, please help to live by Your word, so my heart sing like a child who knows, Jesus loves me this I know, cause the Bible tell me so, in your Son’s holy name I pray. Amen. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. I would like to ask forgiveness, to anyone, I wrong, either by actions or by words,I truly love, Sam H. Thanks for my brothers in Christ for helping me with this devotional, Dennis L. & Curt W.

Proverbs 3:3 Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.
